El DeBarge is an award-winning singer, songwriter, and musician best known as the lead voice of the family group DeBarge, delivering timeless hits like “All This Love,” “Time Will Reveal,” and the crossover smash “Rhythm of the Night.” As a solo artist, he scored with “Who’s Johnny” and earned multiple Grammy nominations, including three for his 2010 comeback album Second Chance. Recognized by Rolling Stone as one of the “200 Greatest Singers of All Time,” El’s soaring falsetto and enduring artistry have made him an R&B icon.

Rising to fame in the early 1980s, El DeBarge became the heart and soul of the Motown family group DeBarge. With his unmistakable falsetto, he led classics like All This Love (1982), Time Will Reveal (1983), and the million-selling hit Rhythm of the Night (1985), which reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became a defining anthem of the decade.

In 1986, El launched his solo career with the chart-topping single “Who’s Johnny,” featured in the film Short Circuit, followed by fan favorites like Love Always. His success established him as one of the rare artists to thrive both in a group and as a solo performer.

After stepping away from the spotlight, El made a celebrated return in 2010 with his album Second Chance. The project, hailed by critics and fans alike, earned three Grammy nominations including Best R&B Album, proving that his voice and artistry remained as powerful as ever.

Over the years, El has earned five Grammy nominations and in 2023 was honored by Rolling Stone as one of the “200 Greatest Singers of All Time.” His music continues to inspire new generations of artists and listeners, keeping his legacy alive as one of R&B’s most iconic voices.
